Tips for High Quality Audio Capture

Last updated October 24, 2025

To ensure audio capture is clear and as accurate as possible, try following these steps:

Equipment Setup

  • Device positioning: Place the recording device equidistant between you and the Veteran on a level surface such as a table or chair
  • Clear microphone access: Ensure nothing obstructs the microphone, such as pillows or other objects
  • App verification: Confirm the Knowtex app is active and recording throughout the entire conversation

Environment Optimization

  • Minimize background noise: Select a quiet room for the recording session
  • Control external sounds: Close windows and doors to reduce traffic noise, conversations, or other distractions

Communication Techniques

  • Clear speech: Speak clearly and maintain a steady, consistent pace throughout the conversation
  • Avoid interruptions: Prevent cross-talking or simultaneous speaking when multiple people are present, as this makes audio transcription more difficult
  • Clarification method: If the Veteran is difficult to understand or hear, repeat back what they said to ensure proper microphone capture

These practices help ensure the highest quality audio recording and improve transcription accuracy for your documentation needs.
