Once you are a PadSplit Member, you will be able to view and request to book any available room. 

For rooms that are instant book, which is the PadSplit default, your booking will be automatically confirmed. You can filter for instant book rooms on the PadSplit search page to find these more easily. 

PadSplit Hosts can also choose to require 

 before a Member can book their homes. The Host has 24 hours to decide whether to accept your booking and you will be notified of their decision. To increase your chances of approval, be sure to write the optional message to the Host when you request to book the room. We know Hosts like to learn more about you and why you’re interested in their home!

Can I book any room at PadSplit?

All PadSplits require a minimum commitment period. There are two minimum commitment types, depending on the PadSplit you book. To know which type of commitment you have, visit the "settings" section of your dashboard and click "stay settings." 

 Some PadSplits require a minimum stay of at least 30 days. Your commitment could be between 30-36 days based on your booking selection. 

After the initial commitment period, you will be automatically moved to a week-to-week commitment. If you choose to move out during your week-to-week commitment, you will not receive a refund for the remainder of the week. (Tip: to get the most for your money, it’s best to move out the day before your next dues day!)

You can pay weekly or bi-weekly and choose the day you pay your dues. We require a credit or debit card on file. If you break the minimum commitment of at least 30 days, you will be charged $35.

 In some PadSplits, you will select between a 5, 12, or 24 week commitment period. Your room price varies depending on which commitment you make. The longer your commitment period, the more discounted your rate will be.

What should I know about signing a minimum commitment at PadSplit?

There is a place to store clothing and personal items in every PadSplit room. Some rooms have a closet while others have a dresser or wardrobe. The type of storage in each PadSplit room is available to view in the listing details.

Will my room have a closet?

PadSplit homes do not have cable and cable cannot be installed. However, all PadSplit homes do come equipped with wireless internet at no extra cost to you. You'll will be able to watch your favorite TV shows and movies through any of your subscribed streaming services like YouTube, Netflix, Hulu, etc.

Do homes have cable? Can I have cable installed?

PadSplit is committed to adhering to the Americans with Disabilities Act ("ADA"). While most PadSplits are not currently handicap accessible, PadSplit will pass any requests for structural accommodations filed under the ADA to Hosts. In addition, PadSplit will consider requests that are consistent with the guidance under the ADA for booking assistance, 

 and other non-structural accommodations.

Are PadSplits handicap accessible?

the addresses and lock codes for PadSplits are not provided until a Member's move-in day. 

You’ll see your address, door code, and move-in instructions on your PadSplit dashboard. Access it by logging in through the PadSplit mobile app or website.

  You'll receive a welcome email from PadSplit. This email will include your address, front door code and information about your private room door lock. This information will also appear on your Member Dashboard.

When do I get my address and move-in details for my PadSplit?

We have created 3D tours of almost every property - now you can get a tour without having to go anywhere! Once you are approved as a Member, we can provide cross-streets for specific homes of interest so you can tour the neighborhood.

Unfortunately, because we value the privacy of our Members, you are not allowed to tour the physical home before your move-in date.

Can I see a room before I move in?

PadSplit room availability changes frequently. After your Membership is approved, you'll be able to book your room for a move-in date up to 2 weeks out. PadSplit cannot hold rooms outside of our standard booking process. We recommend that you complete the application process quickly in order to increase the chance that your preferred room will still be available at booking.

Can I reserve the room that I’m interested in?

PadSplit is expanding very quickly, with new homes added every week! We highly recommend completing the application process so that you can be the first in line to pick the newest available rooms.

What if none of the current locations work for me?

Yes! Bathroom type is listed in the room description as either shared or private. Please note, PadSplit has a limited availability of rooms with private bathrooms.

Are there rooms with private bathrooms?

Service and Emotional Support Animals are not considered pets and will be allowed in PadSplit homes, if approved. Service and Emotional Support Animals MUST be registered with PadSplit before you begin your PadSplit stay. To begin the approval and registration process for a service or emotional support animal, please contact PadSplit Support prior to booking a room. Bringing an unregistered animal onto PadSplit premises could subject your Membership to termination.  

Only 1 registered animal per Member is allowed. When in common spaces within the PadSplit home, animals must be leashed and may be required to be muzzled. The animal shall never be inside the PadSplit home unaccompanied by the Member. The owner shall maintain control of the animal at all times. This is for the protection and well-being of other household members. The support animal must be current on all vaccinations, including rabies vaccinations. The member must provide proof of these vaccinations when they register the animal with PadSplit.  

The Member is responsible for cleaning up any messes and paying for any damages related to the registered animal. The registered animal must not produce excess noise. Failure to abide by these rules can result in a 

Do you allow pets?

Due to the nature of co-living, PadSplit rooms are 

couples nor roommates are allowed to share a room. Children are also not allowed in PadSplits

are made for couples and Members with one child who booked with PadSplit before this policy was introduced. 

In addition, please note that guests are not currently allowed in PadSplits. 

Are couples allowed to share a room? Can I have a roommate?

As of August 2021, PadSplit does not allow children in shared housing. Children may not stay in a PadSplit.  

Members who have properly registered their child with PadSplit 

 will still be able to share their room with their child for an additional $25 a week, provided 

The Member must be the parent or legal guardian of the child

The child must be under 12 years of age (PadSplit does not currently allow minors between the ages of 12-17)

The child must share a room with the Member (children are not permitted to have their own rooms)

The child must be supervised by the Member at all times within the home (it is not permissible to leave the child alone or in the care of anyone other than the Member themself)

A child can be removed from your Membership at any time you request it. However, please note, children who are removed from your Membership cannot be re-added.

Are PadSplit homes open to children (kids)?

PadSplit aims to make booking easy, transparent and affordable. There are three payments that are required in order to book a room.

 The Membership application fee covers the cost of your background check and employment verification. This fee varies based on current promotions. Please note, this fee is 

 The move-in fee covers the cost of cleaning and readying your room for move-in. The move-in fee varies per room but averages $100. 

 At a minimum, Members are required to pay their first week of dues before move-in. There are three scenarios in which a member will pay more than one week of dues before move-in:

How much will it cost to move-in?

, you can proceed with booking a room on our site. In general, you will be able to choose a move-in date that is:

no more than two weeks out from the booking date

no less than 24 hours from the booking date

Before moving in, remember to verify your move-in hours, which are set by your Host. If you attempt to move-in outside of these hours, you may not be able to reach your Host if you need assistance. Move-ins made outside of move-in hours may not be eligible for a refund should issues arise.

When can I move in?

PadSplit homes are owned by individual hosts rather than by PadSplit itself. Some hosts choose to review all booking requests before approving a booking. 

If a host does require a booking approval, you will see this when you begin the booking process for the room. You’ll also have the opportunity to write a note to the host explaining why you are interested in the room. It helps if you introduce yourself so the host can learn a little more about you! 

Some hosts require a phone conversation before approving your booking, so please be sure to read the house description carefully and look out for a phone call. In some cases, if a host is unable to reach you after a few tries, they will not be able to approve your booking. 

You will hear back about the host’s decision by email within 24 hours of your booking request. 

If the host approves your booking request, you’ll get a confirmation email that your booking is confirmed. The pending amount on your card will be charged at this time. You’ll receive all house information on the morning of your move-in. 

If the host does not approve your booking request, you will be notified by email and the pending amount on your card will be returned to you immediately. You are free to book another room on PadSplit. Some rooms on PadSplit are available to book without approval.

If your booking request was for a transfer and you updated your dues date during the booking process, your dues date will change to the new day you chose, even if your booking is not approved. You will also be able to remain in your current room if your transfer request was denied. 

Hosts deny booking requests for a variety of reasons at their own discretion. 

What does it mean if a room requires additional approval by the host?
