Your income must be verified as part of PadSplit's application process. Applicants may choose to have their income verified in one of two ways:

. Plaid will automatically check your account for recurring income streams.

By uploading supporting documents such as pay stubs, bank statements, deposit statements or award letters. 

 and your income is verified, you will be approved for a weekly room rate. 

W-2 or 1099 applicants will be approved for a weekly room rate equal to half their verified weekly income.

Applicants on SSI will be approved for a weekly room rate equal to 2/3 their weekly income.  

You can still qualify for Membership if you are on unemployment or between jobs, but you will need to pay more Membership dues upfront.

Applicants on unemployment will need to pay 8 weeks of membership dues up front and are limited to booking rooms with a weekly rate under $160.

Applicants who are between jobs will need to pay 12 weeks of membership dues up front and are limited to booking rooms with a weekly rate under $160.

What are PadSplit's income requirements?

PadSplit aims to make the application process as easy and quick as possible. While some applications can be processed instantly, others can take 2-5 days to be processed. Uploading all necessary documentation (especially proof of income) will speed up the process greatly.

What is the status of my application?

The application fee is non-refundable at this time. 

I didn't pass the background check. Can I get my money back?

PadSplit offers Memberships that provide access to a private room with furniture, utilities, internet and laundry usage all in one fixed, weekly payment. The rooms are hosted by outside property owners or managers. PadSplit facilitates the relationship by processing all booking, payments, screening and ratings.

How do I apply for PadSplit Membership?

We’re looking for kind, independent, responsible and respectful Members who are open to living in a shared community.

The information that we collect during the application process is used to determine your eligibility for Membership at PadSplit. An applicant must meet the following criteria in order to be offered Membership.

All Applicants will undergo a criminal background check. 

Applicants with felony convictions in the last 7 years will require additional review by PadSplit. 

Applicants cannot have more than one eviction in the last 7 years.

Applicants will have their identity verified by a third party provider.

Applicants must show proof of income or be required to pay Membership dues up front. Please see

Will PadSplit pull my credit during the application process?

Once you are a PadSplit Member, you will be able to view and request to book any available room within the PadSplit platform. 

 and we cannot guarantee they will approve your booking request.

PadSplit takes fraud or attempts to defraud very seriously. As a part of our application process we rely on a variety of measures to verify the identities of applicants. PadSplit reserves the right to ban, terminate, or deny applicants when we identify indications of fraud or deception during the application process.

What are the approval criteria for Membership?

Yes, you can still apply and be accepted to PadSplit. Please see details below: 

If you are self-employed, you can submit bank statements that show the deposits you've received. 

If you're a contractor for Uber, Lyft, Instacart, DoorDash, etc., you can download and submit your payment information from the app. You can also submit bank statements showing the deposits you've received.  

If you are collecting unemployment, you can submit your most recent unemployment award letter. Applicants on unemployment will need to pay 8 weeks of Membership dues up front and are limited to booking rooms with a weekly rate under $160.

Applicants who are between jobs and not collecting unemployment will need to pay 12 weeks of Membership dues up front and are limited to booking rooms with a weekly rate under $160.

Can I still become a Member if I’m self-employed or currently unemployed?

When you apply to PadSplit, we may review your credit history. However, your credit history is not a factor in the approval process. 

Your credit will be reviewed via a “soft-pull” that is unlikely to affect your FICO score.

The following expiration dates apply to your application:

Once approved, your background check is valid for 270 days. You will have to re-apply if you have waited more than 270 days to book your room.

Income verification documents are valid for 90 days. You will need to resubmit these documents if you have waited more than 90 days to book your room.

How long is my application valid for?

Everything Members need to know -- from applying for membership to move-out day -- to live well in a PadSplit.
