Hiring 101: Introduction to hiring in Rippling

Last updated September 7, 2023

At Rippling, we have a variety of options to help you bring on new team members, whether they’re in North America or Asia, full-time employees or contractors. To help you locate the right steps, we’ve created a series of articles to guide you through the hiring process–no matter the employment type or location.

Introduction to hiring

In these articles, we'll walk through every step in the onboarding process so you know what to expect when hiring a new employee or contractor in Rippling. Keep in mind that, depending on what Rippling services you've set up, you may only see a subset of steps. For any products that don't apply to your business (e.g., RPass, Device Management), Rippling will skip these steps in your hiring workflow.

Note: Only Super, Full, and other admins with permission to hire or request hires can initiate the hiring process in Rippling. When you give admins the ability to hire, they'll be able to see all employee data during the onboarding process, even if they weren't granted access to sensitive employee data. Admins without access to sensitive data will then lose the ability to see it on the employee's first active day of work.

Purpose of hiring in Rippling

With Rippling, you can onboard new hires in a matter of minutes:

  • Start by entering some basic hiring information, like salary, team, and start date.
  • Review hire details, like offer letters, access to apps, invitation emails, device assignments, etc. Leave the default options as-is, or edit as you go.
  • From there, Rippling will take care of the rest—across payroll, benefits, device delivery, app account creation, document signature, and more.

The magic of Rippling onboarding: All of the logic you've configured in Rippling —across  departments, teams, work locations  app permissions  document templates & settings  devices , and more—comes to fruition in the onboarding process! The more logic you configure ahead of time in other parts of the product, the faster and more streamlined your onboarding process will be.
